Re-posting this sketch cause the last one was such an anatomical eyesore. This one’s only slightly better.
Though, I realized that if I cut out the bodies, it works pretty well. …lol.
Because the needs of the one, outweigh the needs of the many.
#okay #i just wanna talk about this scene for a minute. #the one thing that always pissed me off about this movie (besides the 10 minutes spent staring at the Enterprise) #was that we were never told WHY Spock decided to go and purge all of his emotions and leave Starfleet. #it’s hinted at that Kirk might be the reason behind it #but what the hell caused this great friendship to fall to ruins #i mean what compelled this logical Vulcan to leave his successful career with Starfleet #leave his friends - leave his BEST friend #and go ahead with Kolinahr? #it just doesn’t make sense to me. #i mean have you looked at Kirk and Spock in TOS? #nothing would separate those two! #but in TMP we have a long-haired Spock on Vulcan going to purge all emotions and therefore attempt to remove his Human!half once and for all#after seemingly learning to accept that one part of himself in TOS #and a Kirk who isn’t quite the captain he used to be. #SERIOUSLY. WHAT HAPPENED? #my opinon?#Kirk finally made his move on Spock and Spock freaked out. #such a surge of giant EMOTIONS hit that Vulcan so fast he freaked the fuck out and ran. #okay. maybe he didn’t literally run. #but he left Starfleet. left his friends. left KIRK. and went to Vulcan. #i’ve heard of people doing drastic things when they go through a breakup. cutting their hair. buying new clothes. purging all emotion. #so 5 years pass without any communication between them. #Kirk essentially thinks Spock is gone from his life forever #but he trudges on like the good like Starfleet Captain he is. #they’re just about to leave when all of the sudden the turbolift opens. #the bridge goes completely silent as they stare at the Vulcan. #waiting for Jim’s reaction. #Jim turns and he sees him. #He sees Spock.
